AffiliatesCanadian Certified Counsellor & Psychotherapist (CCC), Art Therapist (CATA-AT), & Somatic Movement Therapy

M.A Masters of Psychotherapy & Spirituality, Art Therapy Specialization
M.Ed PgCert, University of Calgary, Early Child Development and Education
B.P.E University of Alberta

My approach is rooted in a creative process-based approach to Counselling Therapy, working with children, youth, and adults. I completed a dual Masters Degree in Counselling and Art Therapy and Early Childhood Development and Education. In addition to this, I hold additional training in Expressive Art Therapies, Sand play Therapy, Play Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing; all of which are rooted in engaging a person in a creative process – using play and a curious attitude, they invite the whole person and all the senses into a therapeutic change process. My philosophy is centered on the belief that everyone possesses an inner potential, that when connected to, may help guide one’s further development and learning along their life path. My role is to support you in discovering, uncovering, and recovering your own strengths and resources, and support you in creating anew, where integration, adaptation, and learning are needed most. I bring knowledge, warmth, and humor to therapy as well as directness. Together we will work toward increasing your capacity to experience, relate, make decisions, change habits, and open up new ways of navigating life.

I specialize in working with:

  • infants and young children and the parent-child attachment relationship
  • women experiencing transition (such as conception, birth, and the fourth trimester of becoming a new mother, career changes, relationship changes, health changes, life stage transitions) and a focus on women’s health and wellness issues (depression, self-esteem)
  • supporting professionals and their development of skills such as creativity, resiliency, and professional presence as a way to grow one’s own capacity and skill and to bring this into their professional work or vocation.

Times available: Monday and Thursday Evenings 5-9pm; Tuesday Mornings 8am-12pm and Sundays 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Michelle Kennedy, MC, Registered Provisional Psychologist

Affiliates My ideal client doesn’t exist because EVERYONE deserves competent, compassionate, culturally appropriate, accessible mental health care. You are my ideal candidate because you are human. I want to spend our time together helping you creating the space to share your story in your voice. We can talk about death, love, depression, anxiety, suicide, and gender. Or anything else that’s causing you to feel stuck. I particularly love working with 2SLGBTQIA+, youth and others who face marginalization in their day to day lives. I value collaboration, commitment, humour, joy and love. I love working with all humans but tend to specialize in adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and other significant diagnoses. I also work with people on relational issues, family questions, body image, and building sexual intimacy.

As a family therapist I focus on communication, empathy, queer parenting, ADHD, and co-parenting.

How we tell our stories tell the people around us about who we are. But our stories aren’t always in our control; they are told to us and about us too. They are voices all around us telling us who we are and who we are ‘supposed’ to be – and this can cause significant distress. I am here to help you shape your story and speak it from an empowered voice. I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. I believe in the power of compassion and empathy and work (mostly) through a Narrative, Feminist, trauma informed, and anti-oppressive lens.

Age range:
– Adolescents 14 -18 years old
– Adults
– Elders

Hours available:
– Mondays 10am-4pm
